At PC Privacy Tools, we believe that privacy policies should be short, readable, and honest. We operate under a strict Zero-Data philosophy.
1. Core Principles
- No Accounts: You do not need to register to use our tools.
- No Trackers: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels, or invasive ad networks.
- No Uploads: Your sensitive files (images for metadata removal) and secrets (passwords) are processed locally on your device.
2. How Our Tools Process Data
To provide our services, we use client-side JavaScript. This ensures your data never leaves your control.
Password Generator & Strength Checker
- Generation: Passwords are generated using the
Crypto.getRandomValues()API in your browser. We cannot see them. - Breach Check: We use the k-Anonymity model. We verify your password against the Have I Been Pwned database without ever sending the password itself. Only the first 5 characters of the SHA-1 hash are transmitted.
Metadata Remover
- Processing: Images are loaded into your browser’s memory (RAM). The metadata stripping is done by redrawing the image pixels onto a new canvas.
- Storage: The processed image is saved directly to your downloads folder. We do not store a copy on our servers.
Browser & Email Checks
- Browser Test: The analysis runs locally to detect your browser’s configuration. The “score” is calculated on your device.
- Email Check: We check public databases for breaches involving your email address. We do not store your email or add it to any marketing lists.
3. External Services & Third Parties
We minimize dependencies, but some functions require external APIs to work. Here is exactly what we use:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Have I Been Pwned | Breach Database | Receives 5-char hash prefix (Anonymous). |
| Web3Forms | Contact Form | Processes form submissions. Does not track IP addresses. |
| Unsplash | Images | Serves the hero image on the homepage. |
Note: We host all fonts and scripts locally to prevent cross-site tracking by Google or CDN providers.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
- Cookies: We do not set any tracking cookies.
- Local Storage: We use your browser’s Local Storage solely to save your preference for “Dark Mode” (
theme: dark). This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
5. Server Logs
Like any website on the internet, our hosting provider may collect basic technical logs (IP address, User Agent, Time of Access) for security purposes (e.g., DDoS protection). These logs are automatically rotated and are not linked to your use of the privacy tools.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this policy or your data rights, please contact us via our Contact Page.
